Last year, at Demna Gvasalia's Spring/Summer 2023 presentation during Paris Fashion Week, a T-shirt with Balenciaga branding in the shape of Supreme's iconic Box Logo was spotted. This gave rise to rumors that the two companies were in fact working together on a collection that will debut in the spring of 2023. To the chagrin of fashion fans everywhere, it now appears that the partnership has been canceled.
Following its partnership with Louis Vuitton in 2017, the collaboration would have been Supreme's second significant luxury house partnership. Given the enormous popularity of both brands in the streetwear and high-fashion circles, the announcement of a potential relationship with Balenciaga was especially intriguing for followers. Although the collaboration may no longer be happening, images of what the release potentially would have looked like have surfaced online. These images, shared by @donadasplace on Instagram, reveal a range of products that would have included Bogo-branded slippers, logo hoodies, caps, and plastic bag-inspired accessories. The collection would have also featured camo-printed outerwear pieces highlighted with the Box Logo, as well as padded vests, thigh-high boots, and bomber jackets. It's clear that a great deal of effort and creativity went into designing this collection, making the news of its cancellation all the more disappointing.
The possibility of a Supreme x Balenciaga collaboration was intriguing, and the anticipation was only heightened by the collection's leaked photos. Even though the partnership may not be active right now, it's possible that the two companies will decide to collaborate in the future.
