It's no secret that Coach Prime (Deion Sanders) is a self-promotion mastermind. From his early days at Florida State, Primetime knew how to market himself in a way that made him irresistible to advertisers and potential employers. In addition to his on-field prowess, Coach Prime has passed the off-field genius onto his son Shedur.
Shedur stands as QB1 for the Colorado Buffaloes that his father coaches, and has been tapped to lead a project with Gatorade to roll out a new product. In a recent game against Oregon State, the younger Sanders wore a pair of custom, color-changing cleats created by the legendary sneaker artist Mache. The cleats are part of the promotion for Gatorade's new mystery-flavored sports drink (Spoiler Alert: Black Raspberry).
The 1-of-1 cleat created by Mache starts as a white cleat with minimal Gatorade branding and then changes to a bright orange with the words "Blackberry" and "Raspberry" emblazoned across the side when the color-reacting paint is exposed to higher temperatures.
The heat-reactive flavor-revealing custom cleats were a promo piece and will never be released to the public. For all the latest info on actual sneaker releases and industry news, follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
