Once Coach Prime took the helm for the University of Colorado’s football program, rumors of him reuniting with the swoosh ran wild. Colorado is a Nike-sponsored school, and as such, Deion would be obligated to wear Nike during all coaching activities. This presented a bit of crossroads as Sanders signed an Under Armor endorsement himself. Then came that fateful day when Coach Prime pulled up to the Colorado spring game in a pair of Diamond Turf ‘96s, and the sneaker world went wild.
Deion's signature Diamond Turf line, named after his prowess on the baseball diamond and football field, was a significant success for Nike in the 90s. It was the ultimate shoe for young athletes from all sports, and Deion’s larger-than-life personality was a marketing professional's dream. Immediately sneakerheads everywhere assumed it was just a matter of time before the two reunited, and today, Nick DePaula broke the news that made dreams come true.
As if this weren’t enough to be excited about, it looks like the first Diamond Turf is already on the way. Shortly before news of the reunion broke, Chris Prieto, owner of SoleFly, dropped images of a SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 “Diamond Turf." Coincidence? You can be the judge of that. Once we know more about what's coming next for the Air Jordan 8 line, you’ll be able to find it right here and on our Twitter and Instagram.
