Is The Nike Diamond Turf Primed For A Return

Ask any kid that was around in the 90’s and ask them who the most electric athlete they ever saw and you’ll have an easy answer. Deion Sanders, no question. Prime Time ruled the baseball diamond, the football turf and was one of Nikes star attractions in his hay-day. He was so popular that Swoosh outfitted him with a signature perfect for all his on-field exploits and was loud enough to match his persona.

The Nike Diamond Turf Max was that shoe. Athletes from every sport were rocking them. The Diamond Turf ‘96 was the second edition of the shoe and came clad in black nubuck with white leather flame-like panels running from bottom to top.

Prime Time is now known as Coach Prime and is the Head Football Coach at the University of Colorado. Sanders has also moved on from Nike to Under Armor for his personal endorsements but Colorado is a Nike sponsored school. This means Coach Prime must wear Nikes and while coaching the team. Looks like Nike capitalized on this loophole and Deion a refreshed Diamond Turf Zoom ‘96. At first glance the refreshed turf shoes look to constructed of FlyKnit upper and have a much chunkier sole than the OG.

We don’t know if the Nike Diamond Turf Max will actually release or if it’s just a PE but you can bet Nike knows exactly when Coach Prime’s Under Armor contract ends.
