Originally reported in July, Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns, is poised to join Nike's prestigious roster of basketball athletes with his inaugural signature sneaker, the Nike Book 1. Booker's debut release, known as the Nike Book 1 "Chapter One," is scheduled to hit the market in time for the Holiday season.
The Nike Book 1, Devin's first signature shoe with the brand, pays homage to Nike Basketball's rich history while offering cutting-edge performance features tailored for today's elite athletes. Booker aimed to celebrate Nike Basketball's heritage by incorporating elements from iconic models like the Air Force 1, Blazer, and Air Jordan 1. Notably, the cushioning technology departs from the 1980s era, featuring a novel Cushlon 2.0 foam midsole with a sturdy TPU midsole wall and a top-loaded Zoom Air unit at the heel for optimal performance. The overall design draws heavy inspiration from Devin's cherished '72 Chevy Blazer K5, a prized member of his curated car collection. Affectionately named "Uncle Larry," this vehicle boasts a pristine exterior while housing a modern high-performance engine under the hood. The materials chosen for the Book 1 mirror Devin's affinity for utility-focused casual wear, employing canvas, twill, genuine leather, and textured suede, reminiscent of his workwear-style clothing choices. A standout detail is the lace-loop design, featuring layered white loops inspired by the spine of a book, where all the pages converge.
The Nike Book 1 "Chapter One" is currently set to launch Holiday 2023 via the Nike SNKRS app and select Nike retailers in men's sizing for $150. Booker currently has 3 more colorways of the Nike Book 1 scheduled to launch in the Spring of 2024. For the latest Nike Basketball updates, follow us on Instagram and Twitter.
