New Balance caught lightning in a bottle when they introduced the 2002R Protection Pack. The initial 2021 “Rain Cloud” and “Phantom” colorways were a massive success with their construction which was made to look like the top layers were torn off by hand to reveal the base. This style of extreme distressing was widely sought after upon its initial release. Still, an oversaturation of colorways within the Protection Pack ultimately led it down the path to obscurity.
In comes the New Balance 1906R Protection Pack with triple-white and triple-black colorways. The 1906R is the New Balances belle of the ball at the moment, as the silhouette has already been treated to collaborations with Aime Leon Dore and GANNI. The 1906R Protection Pack models will feature the same hand-torn look on the top layers and even more jagged edges on the base layers. A full-length gel sole adds a layer of comfort to the fashion-forward design.
No firm release date is yet available, but the New Balance 1906R Protection Pack is rumored to release in 2023. You can expect to pick up a pair for $170 and the release should take place on New Balance and other select retailers.
