Every year the NBA introduces the “City Edition” and the Brooklyn Nets are the undisputed champs of the special edition kits. In 2019, the Nets pulled out the Bed-Stuy Coogi Sweater pack as a tribute to the late Biggie Smalls. Now they're back at it with this year's edition. The Nets have collaborated with the legendary street artist Kaws for this year's fits and we just received our first sneak peek at them.
Over the years Kaws has been known for his work on one of the most sought-after Air Jordan 4 renditions ever as well as his line of Medicom figurines. Kaws, aka Brian Donnely, took a multi-colored approach to Nets' typical black and white uniforms. The top and bottom are based in black and dark grey but the use of royal blue, teal, and infrared make the kit come alive. Of course, no Kaws project would be complete without his signature XX logo which is placed dead center on the waistband. The Nets name has a cartoonish vibe emblazoned across the jersey and the Brooklyn logo is placed on the lower left corner of the shorts.
The Kaws x Brooklyn Nets uniforms are set to roll out sometime during the 2023-24 season but no official date has been announced. As with all NBA jerseys you can expect to see the kit release via Nike and other select retailers. Given the Kaws branding, it wouldn't be a surprise to see these end up on the aftermarket as well.
