Since the start of the partnership in 2013, Adidas and Kanye West were seen as a match made in heaven, with the YEEZY line consistently selling out in record time. The two parties later fell out due to creative differences and disputes over royalties, leading to the termination of their partnership.
It all started in 2021 when Kanye West publicly criticized Adidas, claiming that they were not giving him the creative freedom he desired. He also complained that they were not giving him the resources he needed to expand the YEEZY line. This led to a series of disagreements between the two parties, with West threatening to take his YEEZY line to another brand. Adidas, on the other hand, was not willing to let go of one of their most successful partnerships and tried to make amends with West. Despite their efforts, the relationship between Adidas and YEEZY continued to deteriorate, and the YEEZY line suffered. In January of 2022, it was reported that Adidas was expected to lose over one billion in revenue due to the falling out with Kanye West.
But now, rumors are circulating that Adidas and Kanye West may have reached an agreement to revive their partnership. It is said that West has been in talks with Adidas executives, and the two parties are working towards a resolution that will benefit both of them. If this partnership does indeed come to fruition, it could be an enormous success for Kanye West, Adidas, and of course the fans. The YEEZY line is one of the most popular sneaker brands in the world, and Adidas has been struggling to maintain their foothold in the sneaker market since the termination of their partnership. With the rise of other popular sneaker collaborations, Adidas needs the YEEZY line now more than ever to stay relevant in the industry.
