Another day, another Samba. As Adidas struggles to fill the void left by the departure of Ye and the Yeezy line they're clinging on the few hits they have. The Bad Bunny line has always been a success for them but they're coming dangerously close to wearing his name thin. They've also turned to the likes of Ronnie Fieg, Sporty and Rich, and Jason Dill to put their spin on the three-stripe classic. They've even launched a Disney-themed Samba and now turn to British-based designer Grace Wales Bonner for inspiration.
The Wales Bonner is indeed intriguing with a floppy fold-over tongue in place of the traditional one that stands up straight. A soft grey suede around the upper and tip while a muted gold logo gives the shoe a subtle distinction. A navy blue sole gives a nice transition of bold color along with the pastel yellow laces.
The Wales Bonner Adidas Samba does not yet have a release date but is expected to come sometime this fall. Expect to see the price tag somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 as is with all premium collaboration Sambas and a release to take place via Adidas.
