Adidas Honors 100 Years Of Disney With A Vegan Leather Samba
It’s been 100 years since Steamboat Mickey was first sketched by Walt Disney and Adidas is honoring the world's most famous mouse with a very special Samba. Adidas and Disney are no strangers to sneaker collaborations with past shoes commemorating Disney Princess, The Mighty Ducks, and virtually every Marvel superhero ever. This one seems a little different though, with a much more subtle, sophisticated approach.
The Disney x Adidas Mickey Mouse Samba is constructed in a simple all-white color scheme that uses vegan leather on the upper. Vegan leather is a growing trend made popular by fashion house Telfar and has now found its way into a plethora of sneaker releases. The only hint of color on the shoe is metallic gold used on the Samba branding and some strategic use of black. There is a very clever feature on the inner heels of each shoe. Each shoe shows a Mickey Mouse glove shaped in a way that makes for a heart gesture when the two shoes are heel-to-heel. Lastly, there is a black and white sketch of Mickey on the tongue that pays tribute to original drawings of the character.
The Disney x Adidas Samba will be released on April 27th with a price tag of $100. The pair is expected to be exclusive to Adidas but could also pop up at other select retailers across the globe.
