The University Of Kentucky Basketball Selected As The Inaugural Mamba Program

Not only is Nike relaunching the Kobe Bryant signature shoe line full bore in the coming weeks, but they're also launching the "Halo Series." The Halo Series will celebrate Kobe's birthday with an annual release of an all-white version of one of his iconic silhouettes. The plans to celebrate Kobe's legacy don't stop there, as the brand just announced that the University of Kentucky will be the first collegiate program to be sponsored by the Black Mambas Nike subline.

Hand-selected by Vanessa Bryant, the Kentucky Wildcats women's and men's basketball programs will be the first Mamba programs to kick off the 2023 campaign. This means that the Wildcats will have Kobe branded and designed uniforms when they take the court, more importantly…PEs. With the UK being sponsored by the Mamba, we will surely see a host of blue and white Kobe silhouettes that we likely have not seen in the past.

The Kobe PEs will likely only be available to team members, so don't expect to see them load up on the SNKRS App any time soon. Never say never, though; the Kobe Flight Huarache just released this month after being a PE for over a decade. There will be lots of Kobes released in the coming months, so stay tuned to our Twitter and Instagram for release updates.
