Emily Adams Bode's fashion brand Bode came into existence in 2016, renowned for its sophisticated designs that incorporate traditional materials like family quilts and lace tablecloths, the brand makes men's clothing from women’s history. Rumors have begun to circulate that Bode is teaming up with Nike for an upcoming clothing and footwear collection, according to insiders in the sneaker industry. As part of the collaboration, Bode will be reviving the Astro Grabber, a Nike football shoe from the 1970s that has not been re-released before. The collection is said to include two colorways of the classic shoe.
Both Nike and Bode declined to comment on the collaboration, most likely due to NDA's signed when the deal was conceptualized. The Astro Grabber, created by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, was designed specifically for playing on astroturf and worn by legendary NFL player Dan Fouts. The shoe was one of Nike's first models, and Fouts played a key role in its development. Nike has never re-released the shoe as a retro, although a colorway resembling the original Astro Grabber was launched in 2020 as an Air Jordan 1 Low.
According to sources, the Bode x Nike Astro Grabbers are set to debut as part of Nike's Holiday 2023 collection, with a potential release in late 2023 or early 2024. However, release plans are subject to change as brands often adjust their sneaker release dates ahead of a launch.
