When Coach Prime (Deion Sanders) made the move to take over as the Head Coach of the University of Colorado's football program, it was a happy day for sneakerheads. Though Sanders was a Nike athlete during his playing days, he has since moved on to an endorsement deal with Under Armor, and with Colorado being a Nike-sponsored school, Coach Prime had to reunite with the swoosh as part of his new role. Rumors started to fly immediately, and we now have confirmation the Nike Diamond Turf '96 will be making a triumphant return this summer.
The Nike Diamond Turf '96 was one of Neon Deon's most successful signature shoes during his playing days, and he took to Instagram to share images of a retro model currently in the works. The reveal showed off the trainers and a few variations of cleats that have been seen around college and NFL football fields this past season. The black and white trainers were a staple in the 1990s with their rising-flame-like design and Zoom Air cushion. The new release will feature Deion's old logo on the tongue and a new one designed just for Coach Prime on the heel tab.
Release details for the Nike Diamond Turf '96 aren't yet final, but a summertime drop is anticipated. When the release does happen, you can expect to see it happen on the SNKRS App and at other select Nike retailers. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for all the latest sneaker news and release info.
