Now that collegiate athletes are being paid their due thanks to NIL deals, brands are signing student-athletes as fast as they can. Some athletes like Bronny James are starting to make money that could rival professional-level contracts. New Balance has recently announced the signing of their first-ever female basketball player, Cameron Brink of Stanford University.
In her time at Stanford, Brink has been one of the most dominant college basketball players ever. During her career, Brink has earned a lengthy list of honors, including First Team All-American, WBCA Defensive Player Of The Year, and 3x FIBA 3X3 World Cup MVP. With a resume like this, many thought Brink would leave Stanford ahead of her senior season and cash in on a WNBA contract. However, the New Balance NIL deal allows her to earn just as much, if not more, cash than she would by turning pro. Not only does the Stanford standout have an impressive list of on-court accomplishments, but she also has NIL deals in place with Buick, Celsius, and Urban Outfitters, amongst others.
Brink will surely be a top pick in the WNBA draft when her senior season is up, likely #1 overall. With a new Balance deal already in place, we may see her receive her own signature shoe line like Sabrina Ionescu did with Nike.
