Nike will be unveiling Jordan Brand's first retail store, "World of Flight", in Philadelphia. This proposed concept store has been accepted and will be in the works throughout the year, which will make history as the first-ever Jordan Brand storefront in the US. The building they will be taking over is a 1921, 7,000 square foot building located at 1617 Walnut St. in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood.
Architect Michael Kouvaris states: “The aim is to maintain the original character of the facade and integrate slight updates to the design details, as well as upgrade some things for better functionality. The design references the history through the details, such as the central façade arch extruded to create a portal from the outside world to the world of flight. The portal, which is one of the design elements of World of Flight, has been modified to complement the existing architectural language and highlights the proportions of the original arched form.”
This is major news for sneakerheads so stay tuned for more updates about this new store from Jordan Brand in the coming months. For now, take a look at the proposed mock-ups of the store below.
