The Grizzly's number 1 option has gotten himself in a heap of trouble, from threatening teenagers at footlocker, to waving a gun in the strip club, theres no telling what trouble Ja Morant is going to end up in. The 23 year old signed a 5 year deal with the Grizzly's worth over $190 million dollars, so its mind boggling why he keeps putting himself in these sort of situations.
After showing off a gun Ja Morant was suspended by the NBA and the Grizzly's released a statement that the All-Star would not be making a return to the court till at least March 15th. Since then, Ja has checked himself into a help center to help him deal with his anger, but now his return is unknown. Before Ja started acting a fool, he was lined up to be Coca-Cola's first athlete partnership in 5 years. The campaign with Powerade was meant to shine the already bright spotlights on Ja Morant, it was set to be the company’s largest ever campaign. Earlier in the month a 60-second ad starring Ja was posted across social media, now you wont be able to find the ad as the company has made the video private and removed it off Youtube.
Coca-Cola's recent acquisitions of BodyArmor and Powerade were meant to compete against electrolyte beverage leader Gatorade, but the controversy surrounding basketball player Ja Morant has created an uncomfortable situation. Morant's advertisement was intended to revive Powerade, the campaign, titled "From Underestimated to Undeniable," garnered significant funding and resources to reintroduce Powerade into the sports world as a rival to Gatorade. Ja Morant has not suffered the consequences of his actions from outside sponsors like Nike, but now that Coca-Cola has cut ties with the dunk crazed athlete, many wonder if Nike will follow suit.
Whatever Ja Morant gets into, we hope it isn’t in to more trouble. The young athlete has yet to reach his prime and it would be a shame for him to throw away all his hard work o the court to live a life he wasn’t made to live.
