Oftentimes nicknames are based on a pun or an exaggeration of reality, that’s not the case with Russell Westbrook being dubbed “Mr. Triple Double”. When Westbrook was still with the Oklahoma City Thunder he was a flat-out problem for the rest of the league. His game was so well-rounded and versatile that it was actually more of a news story when he didn’t record a triple-double than when he did. During the 2016-2017 season, he recorded the feat in 42 of the 80 games he played earning him the nickname “Mr. Triple Double”.
With an NBA record 198 triple-doubles now under his belt Westbrook has been memorialized with an Air Jordan 3 PE. It’s very fitting of the Jordan Brand to choose the 3 as the silhouette for the PE. The shoe itself is dressed in the Oklahoma City Thunder signature colors highlighting a white base upper. The signature Jordan 3 elephant print has been adapted to feature the OKC orange and their lighter blue is found on the midsole and eye stays. Westbrook's “RW” logo makes its way to the tongue of the PE and his “Why Not” motto is emblazoned on the forefoot.
This Air Jordan 3 PE is truly a player-only production and will never see a release to the public. Well, never say never now that Nike has planned a release for the Kobe Bryant Air Zoom Huarache 2K4.
