Jordan Brand has always held a huge influence over fashion in Japan, now Jordan Brand will borrow from those it's inspired with the Sashiko embroidery style that was created in Japan.
Nike is taking a new approach to style on its Air Jordan 1 Low, putting a spotlight on craftsmanship with the Sashiko design. Overlays resembling denim have been strategically placed on the front part of the shoe, the tongue, and the heel area, infusing a touch of light blue into the palette. What's more, these fabric panels showcase a classic white stitching pattern that's deeply rooted in the traditions of Japanese craftsmanship. The Nike Dunk Low, featuring nearly identical design elements, has also embraced these thematic cues, serving as an additional tribute to the culture of the Far East. The foundational layers of the shoes have been kept elegantly straightforward, providing the perfect backdrop for the pronounced black swooshes on the sides. Moving down to the midsoles, an aged arrangement has been skillfully incorporated, harmonizing beautifully with the essence of the traditional sashiko technique.
The Air Jordan 1 Low Sashiko is expected to make way before 2023 comes to a close. We'll keep you updated on the official release date as the information becomes available. Retail on the pair has also yet to be confirmed, but expect an elevated retail due to the nature of the design. You'll be able to scoop a pair on Nike.com and at select Jordan Brand retailers.
