Nike is set to honor its storied Air Max heritage with an innovative take on a celebrated classic. Drawing inspiration from Sergio Lozano's initial design sketches, this reimagined model preserves the essential DNA of the original while introducing premium material upgrades.
While the original faded from black to light grey, this fresh interpretation begins with crisp white at the foundation and progressively transitions to deeper tones as it moves upward. The Nike Air Max 95 "Reverse Neon" boldly reimagines the legendary "Neon" colorway by inverting its signature gradient pattern. This creative reversal maintains the silhouette's iconic status while offering longtime fans and new enthusiasts alike a compelling reason to add another Air Max 95 to their collection. The "Reverse Neon" colorway made its striking debut during an exclusive event at the MoMA Design Store in New York City's SoHo district, where Nike collaborated with filmmaker Ben Solomon on a short film celebrating the sneaker's profound cultural impact on 1990s downtown Manhattan. The construction features luxurious hairy suede overlays atop a black mesh base, with the signature neon Volt accents providing that unmistakable pop of color. Adding to the personalization factor, Nike includes three different lace options straight out of the box, allowing wearers to customize their look. Despite these contemporary enhancements, the Reverse Neon remains faithful to its heritage, with fans of the original design instantly recognizing the iconic silhouette and gradient approach—just viewed from a fresh perspective.
If you struck out on the MoMA shock drop Wednesday morning, you still will have on more chance. At least, if you're in New York. The Nike Air Max 95 "Reverse Neon" is set to release April 10th, 2025 through a SNKRS Pass exclusively in New York City for a retail of $190.
