Nike has remained a leader in the latest running technology. Making headlines back in 2020 with Eliud Kipchoge’s record-breaking race wearing a prototype of the Nike Alphafly, leading to a ban by the World Athletics. The Nike Alphafly 1 was first launched in 2020, and now we're seeing the third iteration of this ground-breaking running shoe, the Nike Alphafly NEXT% 3. The Alphafly NEXT% is a variant of the Alphafly which is allowed to be worn within competitive guidelines.
Despite the release not happening until January 2024, the Alphafly NEXT% 3 has already proven to be an all-star shoe. Worn by Kelvin Kiptum at the 2023 Chicago Marathon, he wore the Alphafly 3 and shattered Kipchoge's record by 34 seconds, finishing the race in only 2 hours and 35 seconds.
The Nike Alphafly NEXT% 3 Prototype will feature a similar design to its predecessors, most notably the thick chunky sole which can't be missed. The upper will still feature a thin Flyknit upper which varies in thickness across the sneaker. The foam chunky midsole will feature a visible Zoom Air Unit. Releasing in "White/Black/Orange", this colorway is simple but striking. The flyknit upper features a light orange tint, a black knit Nike Swoosh, and an orange accented Zoom Air Unit on the midsole.
