The Swoosh took its roots back in 1972 when Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight formally introduced the world to Nike. The brand started as a company that made running shoes and evolved into one of the biggest lifestyle brands the world has ever seen. In the early 80s, a Nike designer named Bruce Kilgore introduced the world to the Air Force 1, and that design helped launch Nike into the stratosphere.
In the coming months, the Nike Air Force 1 “Athletic Department” will be released as an homage to the brand's early days. The shoe will feature a heavy vintage vibe, an off-white leather upper, and the ever-popular sail-colored midsole. The raw edge on the tongue and faux-again around the edges of the leather give the shoes a sense of nostalgia, while the deep blue used on the outsole, swoosh, and heel tab offer just the right amount of contrast.
The Nike Air Force 1 “Athletic Department” will release via Nike and other select retailers in the coming months. If you like these look, consider checking out the Nike Dunk Low “Athletic Department” and follow us on Twitter and Instagram for any future installments.
