Last year Nike launched the OG “Bronx Origins” Air Force 1, which turned out to be a significant hit for the brand. The simple design of a white upper built with premium materials, the textile black swoosh, and see-through soles with the “Bronx Origins” name set beneath the surface were simple, elegant, and tough enough to represent the Boogie Down Bronx. The brought that gave the world rap music deserved such a tribute, and now the Swoosh is back with another edition to celebrate 50 years of Hip-Hop.
The 2023 edition of the Nike Air Force 1 “Bronx Origins” comes to us in a black-based offering with full-grain leather uppers and alternating swoosh designs on the medial panels. That same pattern is used on the sockliner and on the tongue, which also has a metallic logo detail. There's no shortage of detail work on the shoe as the swoosh stands out with a golden gradient designed to mimic the underside of a CD, and a small black record with the phrase “NYC 50” adorns the laces. On the undercarriage, the straightforward icey sole returns again with the “Bronx Origins” scrawled below the surface.
The Bronx Hip-Hop scene is set to receive lots of love from Nike this summer as both the “Bronx Origins” and another Air Force 1 from Fat Joe’s Bronx-based Terror Squad will be releasing this summer. The Nike Air Force 1 “Bronx Origins” will be released on August 11th for $150. The shoes are set to drop from Nike exclusively but could see a wider release down the road.
