Nike has remained a leader in the athletic footwear industry. Ahead of this year's 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, Nike has showcased a new concept line, deemed A.I.R., during Nike's event in Paris. This concept line will not only showcase a first-look at some of the sneakers worn at the Paris Olympics, but also new futuristic designs for Nike's upcoming years.
The Nike A.I.R. Concept line is currently a full collection of prototypes which are all co-created by professional athletes, ranging from Victor Wembanyama, to Eliud Kipchoge, to Kylian Mbappé, and tied together with Nike's latest digital AI technology. The current sneakers on display are 3D-printed models of the silhouettes which will give us a good sense of what the actual sneakers will look like. Nike's chief innovation officer, John Hoke, had this to say about this A.I.R. concept line:
“For these prototypes to be successful, they must stir emotions,” John Hoke, Nike's chief innovation officer, said. “They must evoke a sense of awe for what lies just beyond the horizon, an optimism for the future. What I really hope this project stirs up is a sense of unlimited potential. Nike Air is a nearly 50-year-young technology. We’re only at the cusp of harnessing Air’s potential, its full expression. And these footwear prototypes show we’re nowhere near done.”
