New Balance is continuing to build out the 5030's early identity through metallic colorways, and the "Eggplant" is one of the more distinctive entries so far. The silhouette leans into a purple iridescent finish that shifts with the light, reading darker and richer than a typical chrome or silver metallic sneaker. The name lands immediately once you see the shoe, and that kind of clarity is harder to pull off than it looks.
The iridescent upper is broken up by curved paneling that adds dimension to the surface without interrupting the color effect. The side "N" logo sits within the paneling rather than being pushed forward with heavy contrast, keeping the branding integrated and the overall look cohesive. Black handles the supporting details throughout, appearing on the tongue, laces, sockliner, and midsole to ground the upper and give the build a more defined structure beneath all that shimmer.
The New Balance 5030 "Eggplant" is set to release on June 9th, 2026 through New Balance and select retailers in-store and online in unisex sizing for a retail price of $120.
