The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Editions Arrive October 2026

Nintendo is celebrating four decades of The Legend of Zelda with a wave of releases spanning late 2026 into 2027, all centered on Nintendo Switch 2 and anchored by a fully remade Ocarina of Time and a limited Anniversary Edition system.

The Nintendo Switch 2, The Legend of Zelda, 40th Anniversary Edition system arrives October 29th, 2026, dressed in a black and gold Triforce design. The bundle does not include a game, but it launches alongside a matching Anniversary Edition Pro Controller, available with or without a display stand (the stand is exclusive to Nintendo New York, Nintendo San Francisco, and the Nintendo Store), plus a carrying case with screen protector, all sharing the same Triforce aesthetic. Two ocarina accessories are also on the way later in 2026: a playable physical ocarina and an electric version from HORI that triggers notes or full songs at the press of a button. In Ocarina of Time, players can hum a learned melody near the Nintendo Switch 2's built-in microphone and Link will perform it in-game.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches November 5th, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, rebuilt from the ground up with overhauled textures, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, and reworked camera and movement controls. A new Threads of Time feature lets players track story progress and objectives at any point, and the day/night cycle now runs continuously regardless of location. The first print run of the physical version ships in special packaging with textured foil cover art, available while supplies last. Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures, which unlock retro-styled in-game masks, are planned for 2027. Beyond the game itself, the 40th Anniversary Concert series kicks off in Tokyo in January 2027, moves to Chicago in February, London in April, and Melbourne in May, covering music from across the series. The live-action film, simply titled The Legend of Zelda, opens in theaters worldwide on April 30th, 2027, from Nintendo, Arad Productions Inc., and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
