Update (5/12/23): Official images of the Air Jordan MVP "Raptors" have been revealed. An official release date is yet to be confirmed but is expected to launch in the coming months.
The Jordan brand is introducing a new silhouette that blends the best parts of the Air Jordan 6, 7, and 8. I know it's not a Retro but the pair has some promise.
The MVP takes influence from the construction of three iconic pairs by using the midsole of the 6’s along with the pull tabs on the tongue. The main structure and paneling of the upper pay tribute to the 7’s while the patterned panel on the rear foot is a Jordan 8 hallmark. The colorway of the shoe is known as the Raptor and it was first made famous by the Air Jordan 7. The Raptor has since been used by Drake in his Jordan 4 collaboration.
We’ve seen this kind of remix before from the Swoosh with the Son Of Mars and Spizike lines both being relatively popular outside of the Retro series. Who am I kidding, unless this shoe has some serious on-court benefits it probably should have been left on the design lab floor.
Release details and pricing are still a mystery at this time but expect to see this pair released on the Nike SNKRS app and other select retailers.
