Legendary streetwear label, Stüssy, is collaborating with British fashion designer Martine Rose for an upcoming collection that features a range of apparel and accessories that merge the distinctive aesthetics of both brands. The collection's lookbook was shot by photographer Rosie Marks and styled by Tamara Rothstein and showcases a vibrant array of clothing pieces that embody the street and nostalgic vibes of both brands. Bold colors, eye-catching graphics, and playful prints blend together to create a collection like no other.
The collection continues to showcase Stüssy's love for fast cars, one of the main themes across their Spring 2023 lookbook. The two brands co-exist with ease, Martine Rose's perfectly proportioned silhouettes, surprising textures, and fluent referencing of subcultural meet the underground subcultures and streetwear aesthetic that Stüssy embodies. The Martine Rose collection showcases a unique blend of streetwear and automotive culture. The collection features a range of apparel and accessories that fuse together the distinctive aesthetics of both brands.
The lookbook for the collection was shot in various locations, with each location featuring a different car as a backdrop. From a classic Volkswagen Golf MK1 to a heavily-modified JDM car, the cars add a unique touch to the overall look and feel of the collection. In addition, the lookbook also features the interior of a Mercedes-AMG model, which perfectly captures the collaboration's intended audience - the cool and irreverent fashion crowd of London meets the laid-back, So-Cal streetwear fashion scene.
What The Collection Has To Offer
The standout accessory of the collection is a pair of leather and durable racing-spec mesh gloves, featuring both brands' logos as well as Rose's signature "Expect Perfection" slogan. Other accessories include swinging air fresheners, 8-ball and Martine Rose-branded striped car mats, and a sun visor featuring some of Rose's favorite muses. The collection also features a furry steering wheel cover that adds a touch of playfulness to any car.
In addition to accessories, the collection also features a range of apparel pieces. A classic black or buttercup yellow T-shirt is printed with the muse graphic, while a duo of model-centric graphic tees is also available. Black or tan hoodies with muse graphics are also part of the collection. One of the standout items is a fringed car decoration featuring campaign graphics from Martine Rose and scripture by Stüssy, the decoration is sure to add a touch of culture to any car it sits inside of.
Martine Rose, who has previously collaborated with brands such as Nike, said that working with Stüssy was a natural fit for her brand. "Stüssy has always been a brand that I have respected and admired. Their unique style and approach to design aligns perfectly with what we stand for at Martine Rose,". Stüssy, was founded in 1980 by Shawn Stussy, and has since become one of the most influential streetwear brands in the world. The brand has previously collaborated with a number of high-profile designers and brands, including Comme des Garçons, Nike, and Dover Street Market.
Release Details
The Martine Rose x Stüssy collection is expected to release on April 14th, 2023, on the Martine Rose website, Stüssy website. The collection will also be seeing an in-store release at select Stüssy chapter stores and Dover Street Market.
