The up-and-coming China-based streetwear brand Costs is making a name for themselves in the sneaker world. Following up on a successful Asics Gel Lyte III collab, the two brands are back at it again and bringing aGT-2160 to the streets this time. After major collaborations with Kith, Bodega, and even anime powerhouse Naruto, Asics has found its way into the limelight this year.
The Costs x Asics GT 2160 "Shao Ji" brings balanced, soft, neutral tones with bold, contrasting accents. "Shao Ji" is an ancient weaving technique. That motif is prominently featured on the box, and the pattern of the mesh material is on the base layer. The Oatmeal colored mesh is topped off with premium suede with just the faintest bit of blush undertones when you see them up close. The deep indigo outline on the logo work and midsole is enough to offset the subtlety of the upper. Cost branding is heavily apparent on the shoes and finds its way onto the tongue, heel cap, insoles, and the two alternate sets of laces.
The Costs x Asics GT-2160 will be available from Asics on November 28th and via raffle at select other retailers. It's been a fantastic year for Asics, and there will surely be more to come, so follow us on Twitter and Instagram to see what they come up with next.
