The Beyond Store x Nike SB Dunk High Releases July 2026

Beyond Store is celebrating 20 years with a Nike SB Dunk High that draws its identity from Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and the city of Jyväskylä where the shop was founded. It is also the first Nike SB collaboration with a Nordic retailer, a milestone that gives the release added significance beyond the anniversary itself. Rather than leaning on oversized graphics or loud branding, the design folds its references quietly into the materials and color palette.

White leather covers the majority of the upper, with light brown accents and a birch-toned Swoosh nodding to Aalto's iconic furniture work. Blue patent-style panels wrap the collar, referencing the glazed ceramic surfaces found in several of his buildings. The red outsole pulls from the brick that runs throughout his architectural projects. Beyond founder Juho Haapala wanted the final result to feel simple, practical, and wearable well past the anniversary, and the Alvar Aalto Foundation approved the design before production.

The skateboarding connection runs deeper than the silhouette itself. Aalto designed the freeform, rounded swimming pool at Villa Mairea in 1939, a shape that broke from the rectangular standard of the time. Similar pool designs spread to Southern California, and when drought conditions emptied many of those backyard pools, skateboarders began riding their curved walls, helping push vertical skating forward and shaping the development of the sport as it is known today. That lineage gives this collaboration a layer of substance that most anniversary releases do not carry.
