Update (1/8/23): Tiger woods and Nike have officially ended their partnership. Statements from both Woods and Nike confirmed that the endorsement deal that started in 1996 has come to an end. Tiger issued a heartfelt statement thanking Phil Knight and Nike’s employees for bringing the Nike Golf vision to life. No word on what Tiger will be wearing on foot going forward but he has been seen wearing FootJoys in the time since his car accident in 2021.
Rumor has it that the over 25-year partnership between Nike and Tiger Woods may be coming to an end very soon. Woods first signed with Nike when he was just 20 years old and has made an estimated hundreds of millions of dollars during their venture. However, that may all be ending soon, according to a leak from the popular golf podcast “No Laying Up”.
The rumors first started to swirl when El Tigre showed up to the 2022 Masters Tournament sporting a pair of FootJoy shoes while Nike was allegedly developing a new product for Woods to wear during his post-car crash recovery. Unfortunately, Woods has not been seen in a pair of Nikes since that day and was seen as recently as last week, where he was again wearing FootJoys. Even though Nike recently retro’s the Tiger Woods ‘13 Woods himself was never seen wearing them.
There’s still much to be speculated about the potential dissolution, so stay tuned as we watch what the legendary golfer will wear for his next tee time. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for all the latest sneaker news and drop dates.
