The Nike 520 Dunk Is Unlike Any Dunk You’ve Ever Seen Before
New swoosh who dis? There’s really nothing that can slow the Nike Dunk hype train these days so Nike seems to be taking the opportunity to try some new things. Might as well, virtually everything sells out in seconds so why not throw some ideas up against the wall and see what sticks.
The newly leaked 520 Dunk incorporates a TPU swoosh. TPU, or Thermoplastic Polyethylene, is a material that gives superior structure and still maintains flexibility. Typically reserved for basketball shoes like the Jordan Tatum 1 it’s now finding a home in a more decorative manner on the classic Nike Dunk.
The Nike 520 Dunk uses a grey and white leather upper with highlights of the Laser Blue and University Blue we’ve seen in the past. The shoe takes its name from the “520” branded across the heel but the backstory hasn’t yet emerged. 520 is the area code for Tuscon, Arizonaand is also code for I Love You in Chinese. Let’s hope more details come up down the road.
