While pre-aged midsoles and chalky edges have become the norm, having a shoe come pre-stained is the next evolution. That's right, the New Balance “Pre-Distressed” Made In UK 991 looks like it's been through the wringer before you even open the box.
The “Pre-Distressed” 991 looks just like your standard 991 on the surface and bears the New Balance trademark grey colorway. However, strewn about the upper are what can only be described as stains. The grey leather and suede have patches of darkness that resemble imperfections left behind by some sort of spillage. Sneakers often feel best on foot once they’ve been broken in a little, and some scuffs and scrapes can even give the shoe character, now New Balance has taken care of that for, so you don't have to stress out over staining your shoes.
