With LeBron James seemingly nearing the end of his career, Nike may have found the new face of basketball in Sabrina Ionescu. She was a generational talent during her collegiate career at Oregon and is showing no signs of slowing down now that she is in the WNBA. Ionescu was hand mentored by Kobe Bryant and wouldn't take no for an answer when her Middle School told her they wouldn't field a girl's basketball team.
In March, Nike announced the Sabrina 1 and gave us our first look at 3 colorways. Now the "Oxygen Purple" will be the first colorway available. The Nike Sabrina 1 is not a Women's basketball shoe; it's a basketball shoe, plain and simple. The debut colorway uses a mesh construction on the upper with the oxygen-purple around the medial and heel. The lemon-chiffon embroidery on the forefoot is patterned after traditional artwork of her Romanian heritage. Perhaps the best feature on the shoe is the phrase "Anyone, Anywhere" tattooed on the air bubble window.
The Nike Sabrina 1 "Oxygen Purple" is slated for a September 1st release with a price tag of $130. Expect to see the shoes drop on the SNKRS App and other select retailers nationwide.
