The Nike Moon Shoe OG "Sail" Arrives Fall 2026

Nike is reaching back to its earliest chapter in running history with the Moon Shoe OG "Sail," a reissue of one of the brand's most foundational silhouettes. The Moon Shoe dates to the 1972 Olympic Trials, where Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman famously poured rubber into a waffle iron to create a lightweight, grippy outsole. This release keeps that origin story front and center without dressing it up.

The upper is built predominantly in off-white Sail material, letting the vintage runner aesthetic carry the design rather than layering on unnecessary details. Grey-tinted overlays at the toe box and heel give the silhouette its structure, while black lands on the Swoosh, outsole, branded tongue, and insoles to provide contrast against the light base. The construction stays close to the original's no-frills intent.

The waffle-patterned outsole is the most deliberate historical nod here, referencing the very innovation that helped put Nike on the map as a performance footwear brand. This iteration leaves that story intact rather than updating it into something unrecognizable.

The Nike Moon Shoe OG "Sail" is set to release during Fall 2026 in women's sizing at a retail price of $105 through Nike and select retailers. To stay informed on all things Nike and to stay up to date with the latest releases, connect with us on Instagram and Twitter.
