The Nike Ja 4 "Nightmare" Releases August 2026

Ja Morant's fourth signature model is arriving with a sharper identity than its predecessor, and the Nike Ja 4 "Nightmare" is one of the first colorways to make that clear. Positioned as an early drop in the Ja 4 lineup, the "Nightmare" edition carries forward the energy of the Ja 3 while pushing the design into more intense territory. The release also comes as Morant begins a new chapter in Portland, giving his next signature shoe a fresh backdrop heading into the 2026 season.

New in-hand images reveal construction details that earlier previews left unclear. The upper features a textured exterior covered in raised triangle details, an abstract "JA" graphic along the side, and a compact Swoosh placement. A synthetic "A" overlay serves as the shoe's most prominent design element, stretching from the upper down toward the outsole and wrapping onto the medial side. The midsole takes on a more defined silhouette compared to its predecessor for a cleaner overall profile, and molded heel tabs add structure at the collar.

Underfoot, the outsole combines smaller triangle traction patterns with a repeating "12" detail, building a grip setup suited for quick cuts on the court. The Ja 4 is also expected to feature ZoomX insoles paired with Cushlon 3.0 foam, giving the performance build a responsive cushioning foundation. The colorway runs through Obsidian, Black, Voltage Green, and multi-color accents across the full construction.
