The Nike Giannis Freak 8 "Etched in Stone" Releases August 2026

Giannis Antetokounmpo's eighth signature shoe is getting one of its most visually striking colorways yet. The Freak 8 "Etched in Stone" pulls from a marble graphic that traces back to the Zoom Freak 4, carrying swirling black-and-white patterns across nearly the entire upper and onto the outsole for a cohesive stone-finished look that runs from toe to tread.

The upper's marble swirl does most of the heavy lifting on the design, but Nike breaks the pattern intentionally at the midsole. Rather than extending the graphic all the way through, the midsole switches to solid black with lighter veining, creating a subtly different stone effect that separates the upper from the tooling without abandoning the theme. Small metallic gold Swooshes land along the side panels, while lime green appears in measured doses on the heel, tongue, and select sections of the outsole, keeping the accent colors from competing with the print.

This is not the first time the marble concept has surfaced on the Freak 8. Giannis was spotted earlier this Summer wearing a lighter variation built around a mostly white marble look, though that colorway has not been confirmed for retail. The "Etched in Stone" edition, with its darker base and gold-and-green detailing, represents the first confirmed version of the concept to reach consumers.
