Nike Basketball Introduces the G.T. Flight, G.T. Force, and G.T. Uptempo for February 2027
Quick Summary
- Nike Basketball revived the Force, Flight, and Uptempo names as part of its Greater Than series, each designed for different playing styles.
- The G.T. Flight, G.T. Force, and G.T. Uptempo are set to release on February 11th, 2027 via Nike and select retailers ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend.
Nike Basketball is bringing the Force, Flight, and Uptempo names back to the court as part of its Greater Than (G.T.) series. Originally introduced in the late 1980s and early 1990s, those three identities separated Nike basketball footwear by playing style, and the Greater Than series has followed a similar philosophy in more recent years. Now the two lineages converge with three distinct models, each engineered around a different on-court role.
The G.T. Flight targets players who live above the rim, whether attacking the basket, pulling down boards, or altering shots. It pairs a full-length Zoom Strobel unit with Cushlon 3.0 foam for responsive cushioning, wraps the foot in a textile bootie surrounded by a TPU cage for lockdown support, and finishes with a rubber outsole for traction. The G.T. Force takes a heavier approach, built around players who rely on strength and need stability through hard cuts and direction changes. Available in both high-top and low-top configurations, it runs ZoomX 3.0 foam, a reinforced synthetic upper, and a TPU window and shank, with a bulkier silhouette that nods to the design language of the original Nike Force basketball lineup. Rounding out the trio, the G.T. Uptempo prioritizes speed with a lower-to-the-ground profile designed for quick movements. Its cushioning stack combines ZoomX 3.0 foam, an Air Zoom Strobel unit, and additional Air Zoom in the heel, while an engineered mesh upper keeps weight minimal and a TPU window and shank provide structure.
The Nike G.T. Flight, G.T. Force, and G.T. Uptempo are set to release on February 11th, 2027 via Nike and select basketball retailers in North America ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend, with a global launch to follow.
