When you put Sheryl Swoops, Cynthia Cooper, and Tina Thompson on the same team, it's not hard to imagine that the team might be successful. However, not many could have imagined that when the Houston Comets built their inaugural team for the start of the WNBA, they would have the type of success they did. The Houston Comets won the first 4 WNBA Championships from 1997 - 2000, an achievement the sporting world has never seen.
The time has come for Nike to honor the trailblazing team with a collection that includes a Nike Dunk Low, Air Force 1 Low, and an Air Force 1 Mid. As for the Dunks, their clad in the Comet's red, white, and navy-blue uniform colors. Navy on the medial, toe box, and heel with white leather overlays. The white swoosh is highlighted with a red outline, and an emblem of a hand holding up 4 fingers adorns the outer heel. The logo panel on the heel also displays “ ‘97, ‘98, ‘99,’ and ‘00,” where the “Nike” text typically lies.
The Nike Dunk Low “Houston Comets Four-Peat” will retail for $120 and drop sometime in 2023. With WNBA All-Star weekend just around the corner, you may want o keep tuned to our Twitter and Instagram for any potential updates.
