The Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 "Back to the Future" Releases September 2026

Nike is bringing a "Back to the Future" theme to the Air Tech Challenge 2 ahead of the 2026 US Open, drawing direct inspiration from the Nike Mag worn by Marty McFly in the film. The result places the movie sneaker's recognizable grey-and-blue color story onto one of the brand's most recognizable court silhouettes, a design long associated with Andre Agassi and the bold aesthetic of early '90s tennis footwear.

Photon Dust covers the majority of the upper, with White, Dusty Cactus, Picante Red, Sundial, and Blue Tint arriving as accent colors throughout the build. Speckled detailing along the sides reinforces the Mag connection, while blue Nike branding on the heel pulls directly from the futuristic silhouette featured in the film. The combination keeps the tribute legible without straying too far from the Air Tech Challenge 2's original character.

This is not the first time Nike has applied the Mag color story to a tennis model. The Vapor 12 Hypersmash carried a similar theme, but the Air Tech Challenge 2 brings it to a silhouette with a deeper foothold in court history, adding another layer of context to the reference.
