Atlanta-based Sneaker Boutique Wish ATL Closing Its Doors After 22 Years

Wish ATL, the Atlanta boutique that built a reputation over more than two decades for carrying sneakers, streetwear, collaborations, and independent designers, will close its Little Five Points doors on December 28th, 2026. Founder Lauren Amos confirmed the news on the store's Instagram, marking the end of a run that began in 2004.

Amos addressed customers, artists, and collaborators directly in her announcement. "For more than two decades, Wish has been more than a store. It has been a place where fashion, art, and culture intersect. A place where people gathered, discovered new designers and forms of expression, and above all found community and inspiration," she wrote. "To every customer who walked through our doors in Little Five Points, every artist who trusted us, and everyone who dreamed alongside us, thank you. You are the legacy of Wish."

The store distinguished itself from a standard sneaker shop by mixing major releases with streetwear, smaller labels, and independent designers, a combination that gave Wish a presence in Atlanta's broader creative community rather than just its retail scene.

The closure comes during a difficult period for specialty sneaker retail more broadly. Eastbay shut down in 2022, and European boutiques Hanon and wellgosh later followed. Atmos pulled back from the U.S. market to concentrate on Asia, The Whitaker Group closed its Prosper location, and Foot Locker announced in 2023 that it planned to shutter hundreds of mall stores by 2026. Not every closure has been permanent: Sneakersnstuff went through bankruptcy before new ownership revived the business, though whether Wish follows a similar path remains unknown.
