Adidas has just produced its first basketball sneaker designed for women, by women. The Adidas Exhibit Select is the labor of love intended to give female hoopers a shoe built for their mechanics, put together by insights of a focus group of Adidas basketball stars across the globe. Players and coaches worldwide provided data, and ideas and tested different prototypes of the shoe until they felt it was just right. Members of this dream team were curated from the WNBA and collegiate ranks to give input from the most highly qualified experts.
The shoe will come in both a high-top and a mid-cut, with the latter having a distinct ankle shape to help cradle the foot. Combining a mesh upper and neoprene inner bootie will provide a soft cushion and maximum responsiveness. A bevy of colorways are already in the works for the Adidas Exhibit Select, but the first to hit the court will be the “Game Royalty” PE of WNBA legend Candace Parker when she suits up for All-Star Weekend on July 15th.
The Adidas Exhibit Select will begin a global rollout on August 1st, with prices ranging from $110 to 140. The women's exclusive will be available from Adidas and other retailers worldwide; follow us on Twitter and Instagram for me details on the release.
